The bow, it seems to be everywhere lately, from runways to stores and social media. No you’re not crazy the bow is definitely trending. It started in 2022 when they made their way onto the runway, but it wasn’t until they appeared in the hair of Sandy Liang’s models in the Fall and Winter of 2023 that they went viral.
I can’t lie I really do love this trend. Perhaps it is because there is something uniquely soft and feminine about a bow, and it appears more and more women are open to embracing a softer feminine side. This may explain why so many have fully delved into incorporating bows into their wardrobe arsenal. So how can this trend be pulled off without looking like a child dressed up for a holiday? Okay maybe it was just me that was concerned about that, but it was definitely something I wanted to avoid. Keep reading below for several suggestions on how you can pull elegantly pull off this trend.
1. Blouse with a bow: Find a good blouse or shirt with a bow. You can dress this look up or down, and shirts like these can be worn for work, a dinner date or even a girls night out. I find it easier when trying a trend for the first time to purchase less expensive pieces from local or online boutiques, and spend more money on good classic staple clothing articles that will last. This allows you to have fun trying different trends without breaking the bank.
2. Hair bow: I don’t think I have worn a hair bow since I was in the third grade, and truthfully I never thought I would ever again. However, I saw this super simple and classy bow at a local clothing boutique and instantly fell in love. Placing an elegant bow in your hair is another way to get in on the current bow trend. To capture the look find a bow that is on the sleeker side and has long bow tails, to avoid looking like you raided your child’s hair drawer.
3. Tie a bow on your bag: An easy and inexpensive way to join the bow trend is to use one of your existing scarves (most of us have these somewhere in our closets) and tie a bow around the handle of your purse or bag. The fun thing about this idea is that you can use a different scarf to change up the look you’re going for. The color combinations and possibilities are endless!
